3D Swaps with Big Shot Box #2 Die

I know, I know, where have I been?  Well that little bit of laryngitis turned into a cold which turned into bronchitis.  So I have been sick and have had no energy but I'm happy to say I'm getting my strength back.  Today was a full productive day.  My first in a long time so I was happy to see those check marks off of my "To Do List".  I still have a long way to go but I'm on the road to posting more. 

Today I was preparing for a demonstrator dinner/swap on Wednesday night.  Our objective is to make a 3D swap with a new set out of the current catalogs.  I chose to use the Box #2 Die from the Big Shot with the Parisian Breeze Specialty Designer Paper.  These boxes really come together quickly.  I made all 15, stamped and filled in a hour.  That was while watching "All My Children".  I use to be a die hard watcher and have let that go for 3 years.  Today I was pulled back in and funny thing...I still knew who everyone was...!

It's Kinda hard to see...I stamped the shape for the sentiment over top of the designer paper and cut it out by hand.  Then added the sentiment to the center.  Each box holds a little bit of Easter Grass...or shredded crinkle paper and 3 Caramel Cremes.  They are so good but I resisted the urge.  They all made it into the boxes!

Stamp Camp Inspired

Hello Ladies,

This past Saturday was the return of Stamp Camp.  I couldn't remember how long it had been since I had one.  For me Stamp Camp means come over and stamp 3-5 projects for $5.  Here are the some of the cards/scrapbook pages we made.

We also made the card found here.  Suzanne added a little green to her's and I loved it.  So today I made an assortment of card fronts ready to be attached to card stock.  I used a bunch of pastel colors that included Blush Blossom, Choc. Chip, Eggplant, Red, Green, yellow, Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, etc...

 

Well that's all for now.  Thanks to all of you who bared with my laryngitis on Saturday.  I know it was awful.  I lost my voice a couple hours before everyone arrived.  I finally got it back on Monday but its still pretty rough.  Oh Well.

5th Avenue Floral

 

Just got this set today.  I was trying a different color combination.  It's Rose Red, Choc. Chip and Gable Green.  Love the card and stamp set but I'm not crazy about the Gable Green flowers.  They don't really show up well enough.  Maybe Certainly Celery or Mellow Moss may have looked better.  But I was short on time.  Hopefully I will have more time to play around with it later.  I think this set would look great with Glitter and I have a ton of it so don't be surprised if you see some sparkle soon.

Manhattan Flower Textured Die and Pastels

 

Hello Everyone,

From the picture it is hard to see the effect of the pastels rubbed over the Textured Manhattan Die.  It's soft in person.  What I did was take the Regal Rose Pastel and rubbed over the cardstock with a Q-tip.  I put up two pictures here to show you the effect.  It is the same card just one shot is darker than the other.  I used the Very Versatile set again for the sentiment.  I kinda like those little sentiments.  They don't take up a lot on the card front.

Happy Easter Everyone!  I hope you and your family have a wonderful day today.  For the card above I just had to use Clear Embossing for the Background.  Loved it on the Rose Red Cardstock.  The background is so nice in person I didn't want to cover it up with something else.  So I went for ribbon with a little sentiment from Very Versatile 113806 found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Clearly Thanks Printed Window Sheets

 

Have you seen the new Printed Window Sheets in the Occasions Mini Catalog?  Page 10.  They come in 2 sheets.  I cut one sheet to make all the cards on this post.  To adhere them to the card I used mini glue dots or Snail adhesive and then covered it with ribbon.  So easy to use and look so much better than my picture taking abilities.  By the way, 2 sheets for only $5.95!  Try them out...you'll love it!

Thoughts and Prayers for John

  

Before stamping became my passion a little over 5 years ago I would have to say my passion was fastpitch softball.  For those of you who knew me before stamping this comes as no surprise.  I received word this past Monday that my Junior Olympic Manager/Coach had passed away.  This man recruited me to play for his brand new team during my high school years...yes, I counted the years since the first time I met John and it has been 19 years!  Time sure does fly by. 

John was a talker.  He approached me after one of my high school games and I had no desire to chat about the triple I hit during the game and the catches I made playing centerfield.  I just wanted to head to the locker room, change and go out with my friends.  I introduced him to my father and they got to talking.  Which as many of you know, Dad can talk too!  Turns out he wanted me to play for him on a traveling team that would require weekends away and 2 nights of games during the week.  Little did I know then how much of an impact John would have on my life.  He was one of the kindest men I had ever met.  He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.  Over the next 4 years, I saw John more than I saw most of my family members.  My Dad ended up coaching the team with him and we all seem to be road warriors traveling weekend to weekend.

After my time playing for the Damascus Flames and high school graduation I started to coach softball.  I can't remember if it was my days as a high school coach or as a college coach when I saw John come over the hill in an umpire's uniform.  I about died laughing.  I couldn't believe my Dad and I would be coaching the team and he was the umpire.  We soon learned that John had a difficult time calling balls and strikes and we kidded him about that relentlessly.  Then next time he had one of our games he was the baseline umpire.  A job that suited him much better than behind the plate. 

Over the years I have seen him at games, events for my father-in-laws Junior Olympic team...yes, its a twisted family.  We all are involved.  But I had not seen my team mates in at least 12 years.  Last time I saw most was at our pitching coaches funeral.  Monday night was a complete walk down memory lane as the Original Damascus Flames players and coaches started to fill the funeral home.  In this great time of sadness was such complete happiness.  We all shared stories and caught up on everyone's lives.  John would have been so proud to see all of the players/coaches again.  What an impact one person can have on another persons life and I wasn't the only one.

Thanks for letting me share a little snapshot into my life.  I usually try to keep this more of a stamping blog but today just called for a trip down memory lane.  To all my Flames teammates, you all are the greatest group of people and I'm so glad we were able to re-connect.

April Club Projects

Hello Everyone,

Here are the Card Club projects we made tonight.  Maria wanted to learn how to make shaker cards.  So we made 2 of those.  One with Chunky Glitter and one with Pink Duo Beads. 

 

 

We also made these cute Baggies.  Each was stuffed with some Easter Grass and Reese Eggs.  Not pictured.

Big Shot Scallop Envelope Easter Basket

 

For this easter basket I used the Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I used 6 scallop envelopes and cut 2 strips of paper 1 3/4" x 12" and adhered them together to make a stronger Basket handle.  Of course I had to add some candy...Reese's and Peeps.  My husband already tried to eat the Reese's...his favorite.  Now I just need to hide it from him so my club members can take a look this weekend.
